Lionel Messi makes history as Barcelona thrash Bayer Leverkusen

Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals in one Champions League game as Barcelona swept into the quarter-finals 7-1 on the night and 10-2 on aggregate.
Messi sped on to Xavi's lofted pass and scooped the ball over Bernd Leno in the 25th minute. He added a second with a trademark run across the defence and low shot three minutes before half-time and completed his hat-trick four minutes into the second period with another stunning chip from AndrĂ©s Iniesta’s pass and struck again after 58 and 84 minutes.
20 year-old Cristian Tello also scored two goals before a late goal from the German side.
He now has 12 in the Champions League in seven appearances this season and has netted an astonishing 30 goals in his last 25 games in Europe's elite club competition.
Barcelona manager, Josep Guardiola said, "Tonight we witnessed one of [Lionel] Messi's most special nights; watching it was like receiving a gift."
Bayer Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt said, "If you are a fan, you must be deeply impressed by Messi today, but me as a coach, I did hope for one of his bad days."
