Manchester United moves above beaten Manchester City

Mario Balotelli lies on ground during his sides defeat

Manchester United move top of Premier League for the first time this year after their victory over West Brom and City's defeat from Swansea.
Wayne Rooney had scored twice to put them one point above City. Rooney reacted sharply to direct Javier Hernandez's driven cross past Ben Foster to open the scoring in the first half.
Rooney then scored from the spot after Keith Andrews fouled Ashley Young to seal the win which - coupled with the result at Swansea - put United top of the table.

Manchester City had a few opportunities but lacked fluency against an adventurous Swansea City that led to a 1-0 defeat.
With seven minutes left Swansea scored after a patient build-up as Routledge picked out Luke Moore who made no mistake heading from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner.
An apparent equaliser by Micah Richards in the closing moments was denied for being offside as the game ended with City falling on the 2nd spot on the league table.

Everton defeated Tottenham after the Redknapp's side couldn't get a break in front of goal.
Croatian forward Nikica Jelavic's first goal for Everton earned them a hard-fought win extending their unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League to seven matches.
Spurs' Jermain Defoe had a goal ruled out for offside, while substitute Louis Saha was denied by the post in injury time as Spurs drew a blank for only the third time in the Barclays Premier League this season.

Sunderland turned Liverpool's hopes of a top four finish to dust as Nicklas Bendtner scored the only goal while Kenny Dalglish's team tested the home goalkeeper with one shot on target, in their 1-0 defeat

Chelse's Didier Drogba, who turns 34 tomorrow, celebrated the Blues' 107th anniversary with his 100th Premier League goal as Di Matteo's men finally managed to break down 10-man Stoke City.
