Lahiru Thirimanne sweeps

Sri Lanka qualified into the finals after a nine-run win over Australia at the MCG.

Half-centuries from Dinesh Chandimal, Kumar Sangakkara and Lahiru Thirimanne had set the hosts a target of 239 runs. After their early loss of openers the three middle order batsmen had lifted the score but Christian busted through the late order to cease the tourists to a less expected score. Pattinson (4-51) had dismissed the top and middle order.

Australia's chase was not much stable but Shane Watson (65) and David Hussey (74) had showed some struggle. Sri Lankan paceman had taken 4 crucial wickets for 49 runs.
