Van der Vaart scored the opener with an excellently-placed shot and in the 2nd half, Swansea equalised with the hugely impressive Gylfi Sigurdsson's volley.
Tottenham again went into lead by two routine, close-range headers from tall Emmanuel Adebayor, beating Swansea's central defender easily.
Earlier Liverpool headed home both pointless and humiliated after a 2-0 defeat from Newcastle
Reina departed after being shown a red card for his reckless butt on James Perch and £35m centre-forward, Andy Carrol, reacted to his second-half substitution by ignoring Liverpool's manager and storming down the tunnel swearing to himself.
Newcastle's Papiss Demba Cissé had scored the two goals, his seventh in as many games since his January move from Freiburg, two more than Carroll has managed in 36 league appearances for Liverpool and Cisse cost less than a third of the fee Liverpool paid for Carroll.
Newcastle scoored against the run of play, but a beautifully taken goal. Lovely cross from Ben Arfa on the left and Cisse produced a glorious header at the far post
The 2nd goal came about after an hour when Ba placed the ball into the box finding Cisse on the far post, who beats Reina three yards out with a quick turn and slots it calmly into the corner past Skrtel had got back onto the line.
