Alumna to Compete for Miss SC Crown

Holly Whatley ’10 will compete in the Miss South Carolina pageant July 10-14 at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, SC. Whatley, who majored in business and minored in Spanish, was crowned Miss Richland County in March.

Whatley has pursued three of her passions—modeling, singing, and cooking—since graduating. She says that PC has played a significant role in her endeavors. “PC was really one of my major stepping stones in preparing for life and really committing myself to success,” she said.

A former forward on the women’s Blue Hose basketball team, Whatley has chosen “Building Healthier Individuals by Supporting the Y” as her platform for the pageant. “What I believe is important in life,” she said, “is reflected in the mission of the Y: ‘to empower people to be healthier in mind, body, and spirit.’”

Whatley will compete against 47 other pageant hopefuls in five areas: private interview, swimsuit, talent, evening gown, and on-stage question.
