Amir Khan announces July 14 fight against Danny Garcia

Amir Khan says he will fight WBC light-welterweight champion Danny Garcia in Las Vegas on July 14.
The former WBA (Super) & IBF Light Welterweight Champion took to Twitter this morning to make the announcement:

"Jus want to say thankyou for all the support and may the best man win on july 14th. Khan Vs Garcia. Mandalay Bay Vegas."

The 25-year-old from Bolton was originally scheduled to face Lamont Peterson earlier this month in a rematch for the WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles.
However, that fight was cancelled after Peterson failed a drug test.
Now Khan is attempting to reclaim his WBA (Super) & IBF Light Welterweight Champion titles through an annullment of the controversial December match that led to Peterson's split-decision victory over Khan.

The cancellation of the rematch has left Khan free to pursue a fight with Garcia; however, Garcia stated on Twitter last week that he would only fight Khan if he regained his titles:

"If he don't get his belts back we can't fight. A unification bout is the only fight that can not let me fight my mandatory."

Garcia, 24, is undefeated, with 23 wins including 14 knockouts.
He recently secured the vacant WBC light-welterweight title with victory by a unanimous decision over Mexican legend Erik Morales, who had been stripped of the belt for failing to make the weight.
It remains unclear what titles, if any, will be at stake between Garcia and Khan.
Peterson edged Khan's IBF and WBA light-welterweight titles in December with a split-decision victory in just the second defeat of Khan's professional career.
