It had prviously been thought theoretical that GPS spoofing could attack an aerial vehicle and brought under control. A research team at the University of Texas at Austin has proved it practical. Also, last year, a US military drone reconnoitoring in Iran was commandeered by tweeking its GPS signals.
The demonstration by research team is a wake-up call as drones could be interefered with to crash into people or buildings or at other targets. More worrying is the fact situations could go worse with plans to allow thousands of military and civilian drones in U.S. airspace by 2015.
