Formula One Test Driver Maria de Villota Loses Eye in Test Accident

Spanish formula one test driver Maria de Villota has lost her right eye as a result of an accident she suffered during a test event in Britain.

The 32-year-old was rushed to a hospital after the crash with a team vehicle at Duxford Airfield in Cambridgeshire, north of London.Her condition was described as "critical but stable" after a lenghty operation to address serious head and facial injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
