Iranian Literary Foundation to mount ‘Little Prince’ contest

Iran’s Cheragh-e Motale’eh Literary Foundation has programmed to hold a story-writing contest for children and young adults in paying tribute to French writer and poet Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Children and young adults under the age of 15 can submit their short stories with an open subject to the contest, said the secretary of the contest Maryam Sistani.

The contest is to commemorate the author’s most famous work The Little Prince, first published in 1943, she explained.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novella, The Little Prince, is both the most read and the most translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France.

About 50 stories have been submitted to the foundation so far. The winners will be named on September 22. The first winner is scheduled to receive a cash prize, a statuette of the Little Prince, an honorary diploma, and a series of books for children and young adults.

The next four winners each will grab an honorary diploma and a series of books for children and young adults.
