Yahoo! was set to name Marissa Mayer, a key Google executive, as its
new chief, making her among the most prominent women in tech and
corporate America, the New York Times reported Monday.
The Times said the move would be a major coup from Yahoo!, which has been losing ground and talent to rivals like Google and Facebook.
The report, which quoted Mayer, said she resigned from Google Monday and would start Tuesday at Yahoo!.
The Times said the 37-year-old Mayer had been responsible for the look and feel of Google's most popular products and was part of a small circle of senior executives at Google.
