French President Francois Hollande said Saturday that Greece "must stay in the eurozone" but it needs to "demonstrate the credibility" of its commitments to reduce its budget deficit.
Speaking after a meeting in the Elysee palace with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, Hollande said: "Greece is in the eurozone and Greece must stay in the eurozone, but it still has to demonstrate the credibility of its programme and the willingness of its leaders to go the whole way, while doing it in a way that is bearable for the population."
For his part, Samaras pledged "Greece will manage it, will remain in the eurozone."
