NY man guilty of harassment in Pitt prof threats

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A New York man has pleaded guilty to harassment for sending threatening e-mails to University of Pittsburgh professors at the height of a series of bomb scares at the university earlier this year.

Sixty-six-year-old Mark Lee Krangle, of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. was arrested at Pittsburgh International Airport in April for the threats, which were not related to bomb threats plaguing the university about the same time which are still being investigated by federal authorities.

Krangle's attorney told a city court judge he's been jailed since spending 45 days in a state mental hospital for a delusional order which prompted him to send the threats — one of which referred to a shooting at a psychiatric clinic on campus in March.

Krangle promised not to contact the professors and continue treatment and was immediately released on a sentence of time-served.
