Moscow celebrates the 865th city day



Moscow has marked the traditional annual City Day with military orchestras marching through city streets.

Performers in carnival costumes marched and danced in the street, with hundreds of pedestrians enjoying the show. The annual military band festival, also known as Spasskaya Bashnya, sounded off in Red Square on Saturday evening. The event is a combination of military, classical, folk and popular music as well as military band parades and dance shows.

It hosts hundreds of participants from various countries. Fireworks and laser shows crowned the military music program. The popular military bands festival is named after the main Kremlin tower. This year,Spasskaya Tower marks the 200th anniversary of the war against Napoleonic France in 1812. The festival runs until next Saturday.
