Prince Andrew descends from skyscraper for charity

Britain’s Prince Andrew has proved he has certainly got a head for heights. The 52-year-old son of Queen Elizabeth II has descended from 239 meters at the top of Europe’s tallest building to raise money for charity.
The Prince’s daredevil adventure took him all way from the 87th floor of London’s Shard skyscraper to the 20th level of the building. The stunning rope journey took him 30 minutes, Sky News says.
“The difficult bit was actually stepping out over the edge,” Prince Andrew told the reporters after the ride. “I will never do it again,” he added.
Prince Andrew, Duke of York lead a group of about 40 participants in the Descent of the Shard event raising funds for the Outward Bound Trust and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
"I am delighted to be joining with The Royal Marines and their Charitable Trust Fund to be able to raise not only awareness for the two Charitable organizations we are Descending the Shard for, but also in raising the necessary money and support for both organizations to be able to continue our vital work," Sky News quotes the Prince as saying.
The prince who since 1999 has been the chairman of the trustees of the Outward Bound Trust raised $460,000. The trust’s cause is to offer a wide range of adventurous outdoor activities and learning for young people and adults. Over 1 million youngsters participated in the trust’s programs over its 70 year long history.
The Shard building was opened by Prince Andrew in July this year and is the tallest building in Europe
