PhD student makes his mark with signature verification program

AS a teenager, Vu Nguyen suffered the pain of seeing his mother sacked from her position as chemistry lecturer at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, accused of professional misconduct.

She later discovered signatures had been forged on documents, something the university never acknowledged, but nevertheless she was able to return to work there in an administrative position.
