Eco-friendly city takes shape in Sansha
China’s youngest city--Sansha in Hai’nan province, has just seen its 100th day. Officials say construction of infrastructure aimed at building an eco-friendly city has gone smoothly.
A series of infrastructure projects are underway, with a gross investiment of more than 10 billion yuan. These projects include quayside construction, sewage treatment and the desalination of sea water.
On Yongxing Island, the seawater desalinization plant, with the capacity of desalinizing 1,000 tons of seawater per day, could provide plenty of drinking water for people to stop using island water.
Sansha will also build schools, hospitals, as well as more supply boats to help improve local residents’ daily lives.
