''TEXTUAL CHICKEN!''
I always make it a point to ask the students the name of the father of cell-phone texting? Not one could answer ! Fredheim Hillebrand while in the process of invention, studied all earlier means of communications and found that most postcards and telex messages used fewer than 160 characters.
So, he didn't limit text to 160 characters because of our brains. He did because of the Telecom industry's bandwidth limitalled
A few pioneering school administrators are considering a new approach called BYOT -bring your own technology. BYOT offers an elegant solution to an old problem. Instead of outlawing devices, BYOT policies allow kids to take their phones and tablets to class rooms to engage one another in learning.
After all even the first generation iPhone is more powerful than the computer lab's ancient and God forsaken Desk tops. Putting a new Laptop on every desk can cost hundreds of dollars per student, so tapping into the tech that the kids already have is beauty. So time that schools turn those devices into learning tools!!
I am great advocate of this approach and I am totally convinced that its worth the trouble.''Parents should be desperate for the kids to be prepared for the jobs of the future,'' says Julie Evan executive director of Project Tomorrow, a nonprofit that studies how to use mobile technology in schools.
The ability would be to create a classroom experience with the tools the students already have!! A mobile devise can easily erase the idea of separation between work and home.
But back to Texting: ''Too much texting can dull the kids social sense,'' says Professor Of Psychiatry Gary Small of UCLA School of Medicine. ''Our brains evolved to communicate face to face,'' he says, ''and a lot of this is lost in Texting!''
But mind you, for even a slightly neurotic person texts are as dangerous as they are lovely; they are lots and lots of fun but easy to misconstrue, inefficient and even low pressure, swoon-inducing but......hey. hey...a road to the future! Cool, cool! They are cool!
And the Scientists think that the mobile phone has become a kind of super extension of ourselves, -faster, brainier, more reliable always on! So lets get texting! Hahaha!
Many thanks to !WOW! Good Night & God Bless!
