IWOW! is a fantastic and a gruelling test of character, courage, strength, and over and above everything else, Love!
From the moment you join !WOW! you will have someone to fall back on - a Personal Adviser, a large buddy group, and global mates.
Someone who is there to put your interests first. Who will answer your questions, explain anything that is not clear. And stick by ya through your entire student life: !WOW!
For those of you who are sensitive and understand the bigger picture and who have felt the decline all around you, !WOW! is, in Abraham Lincoln's words, ''the last best hope'' on earth and should be treated as such. Your future is inextricably linked with democracy and freedom. And !WOW! stands for decency, justice and intelligence.
You have to take !WOW! and infuse it with every personality. You have to give it instincts and sensibility.
You have to make !WOW! intelligible an, above all,intelligent. You must gamble big on contributors, and on ideas, and above all, remember my favourite word - ''on passions''.
You should not only encourage and publish great writers but make stars out of them. And in doing so, you will elevate the art and discourse of all students of the world.
And right from the word go all of you must strive for one thing and one thing alone: for !WOW! to thrive and for your legacy as a students who started it all to stand the test of time.
So before I conclude this post let me define a very very apt analogy and let me do it with a stark face:
''When you are delivering a baby, and the baby is getting in trouble, and the baby's heartbeat, which is normally about 130 to 140 beats per minute, going to fifty or sixty, and you are standing there and watching it go down, you know you have got about three minutes to make a decision.
You can use a pair of forceps and try to pull it out, you can use a vacuum extractor, or you can leave labor and delivery, put her on the table, put her to sleep, cut a hole in her belly, and take it out with a C-section -but you have got to do something, and you have got to do it now.
That baby's life depends on what you do in those three minutes. And that's exactly and precisely where all of you are today.You all are exactly in those critical three minutes. If you wait to act, it's going to be too late. We are going to lose the baby!
You are all great heroes. You are bound to win. The sacrifices of the Samurais and Mallala Yusafzai must blossom and help build a better world.
In postscript, You are all a Model Person! You are all a bolt of burning energy.The world must walk safely in your strong shadow!
