One Pound Fish Man challenges James Arthur for Christmas number one.

Viral hit 'One Pound Fish' is taking on James Arthur's 'Impossible' for the Christmas number one spot.

The track from market trader-turned-popstar Muhammad Shahid Nazir has had over 3 million views on YouTube since debuting earlier this week.

"In a cab and One Pound Fish has just come on the radio like a NORMAL SONG..." Xtra Factor co-host Caroline Flack posted on Twitter. Nazir had previously performed the novelty track on The X Factor, but was rejected at the auditions round.

The Bollywood-themed song has drawn comparisons to Psy's breakout hit 'Gangnam Style'.

According to bookmakers William Hill, Arthur is at 9/2 for the number one position, while Nazir's 'One Pound Fish' is currently at 33/1. 

Nazir is ahead of Adele (50/1), Justin Bieber (66/1) and Leona Lewis (100/1) to take the top spot.
