JU students protest against fee hike


JAMMU, Feb 4: Jammu University students today protested against the recent fee hike passed by the university council. 
According to a press release, students boycotted classes and staged dharna in front of Dean Students Welfare and then outside vice chancellor’s chamber, where they chanted slogans against the administration against. Thereafter students went outside the university gate where they jammed the main road for half an hour, the release said. 
Later, the students again re-assembled in front of the central library, where they finalised their next course of action and demands. They demanded complete revocation of fee hike and also demanded open student union elections.
They said that students union should be democratic and an open platform for everyone to join in the agitation. 
Many of the students present in the protest held the view that there is a massive fee hike everywhere including examination, reappear, reevaluation, admission, hostel and expressed grave concern that the university has hiked it upto 900% in some particular cases.
