China has successfully launched its first high resolution earth observing satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
The satellite, Gao Fen-1, is designed to help with disaster prevention and relief, precision agriculture, and monitoring climate change. The high resolution technology provides precise and global data. It is being developed by countries around the world. The Gao Fen satellite was carried into orbit by a Long March 2D rocket. It was launched on Friday with three other satellites from Turkey, Argentina and Ecuador.
