UEFA Champions League 2013

Bayern Munich to Destiny

Robben's 89th minute goal make his team feel proud and worthy to hold the UEFA Cup for the fifth time in history after the finals disappointment of 2010 and 2012.

Bayern is the team who had faced defeat in the finals of UEFA in 2010 and 2012, but still they don't give up and succeeded in supply 60th minute breakthrough, after both sides had missed a series of chances. It was Bayern who was looking winner in this final after attempting most number of shots on target, so it proved in 89th minute when Robben wriggled through to take the trophy for Bayern Munich for the fifth time.

Bayern's starting lineup was well experienced with the defeat of last year final from Chelsea FC, whereas Dortmund's lineup was consisted mainly on novices.

The game had started at breakneck speed and there was a bit of aggression in both of the teams with opportunities coming thick and fast. The half time interval did not serve to break the rhythm of the match. Second half started in the same breathless manner where chances proved rarer, however, Robben and Ribery of Bayern's were the architects, swapping passing down the left where low-cross worked for them and Mandzukic tapped the ball into the net and there was enormous appreciation from the crowd, standing on their seats, dancing and loving the heat of the moment.

That was the moment of shock for Dortmund team where they hold their nerves and regrouped and were level 1-1 on a penalty in 68th minute of the match, after eight minutes of Bayern's goal.

In the last few minutes of the match, both teams were trying hard to shot the ball into the net, where suddenly Ribery controlled a high ball passed from the midfield and flicked the ball into the Robben's path where he evaded two defenders and pushed a shot past Weidenfeller. That late goal in 88th minute was almost a victory moment for Bayern Munich because it's just one minute left in the completion of match and they were leading by 2-1. Munich crowd was roaring and fans had unfurled a banner pre-match bearing a legend 'Und heute ist weider ein guter tag' (And yet again it's a good day) and finally Munich placed his name on the UEFA Cup 2013 and won another title for themselves.
