'''PRIME MINISTER GORDON BROWN :

 THIS GOOD -KIND- GREAT MAN'''

At 16, while playing rugby, Prime Minster Gordon Brown got whacked in the eye in the scrum and knew something had happened. For weeks on end, he lay flat and in total darkness. Fearing all the time that he will go blind. That cost him an eye.

Later in life, when asked how he had felt, he answered as such : '' I just had to stay determined and positive. The most important thing in one's life is to be determined when bad things happen to you, and not to let events beat you.''
In my view, Gordon Brown has been, and will remain so, the most powerful man in Britain. Comfortably, by any measure you pick, he has always been the brains and the driving force behind almost all of Tony Blair's key policy initiatives, then. Cabinet Ministers recall the period and tell you that nothing could get done then, without Gordon Brown's say-so.

And whereas Tony Blair, might do with a mild rebuke, if something happened that he didn't like, an angry Gordon Brown, will chew your internal organs clean from your body and much away at breakfast.

Brown, has a public image as a dour, serious Scot  -obsessed with the tiny minutiae of economics. But anyone who knows him well, and those who have been fortunate enough to be his friends, know that the real Gordon  Brown couldn't be more more different. All of this, from one of his close friend:

''The man you see over a dinner table is amusing, charming, passionate, ferociously intellectual, kind and generous. Many many felt and surmised too, that they have never met anyone in British politics who even comes close to exuding the sheer force of personality and intelligence that Prime Minster Gordon Brown has. But he prefers to hide all this from the public, believing that his job required him to be a crushing bore on TV.''

Said Gordon Brown : '' I gave the news about the economy, or a budget statement, so the scope of great humour isn't really there. I just can't start cracking jokes about taxation, can I? I also think that the thing the people are really interested in about me is the job I do for them, and whether I do it will or badly.''

As the second longest serving Chancellor, this man who could give all other people what they want at a flick of a pen, reasoned : 'The first thing I did was to give away power, by making the Bank of England independent. And I gave away that power because I wanted to send a message that this was not a short-term thinking Government making decisions for political expediency.''

Prime Minister Brown is long acquainted with pains and tragedies. His daughter Jennifer Jane died just -ten days-  old in 2002. And then, sadly, his son Fraser developed cystic fibrosis. He and his wife showed extraordinary courage given what they went through. This is how he reflects : ''I think most parents in our position just get on with it, because you know your child depends on you.

And it is really important to remember that it's not important what you feel. It's making sure that your child has the best chance that really matters. Yes, I think there is nothing that can real rival the loss of a child. NOTHING EVER.''
The Prime Minister then grows distant as tears brim his eyes. It is desperately poignant moment.

In an interview, not too long ago, when he was  not yet the Prime Minister-  he was asked if people Trusted him.  and what his Family meant to him? : ''I hope so, yes. Trust has to be earned, and just because people trusted you before doesn't necessarily mean they will if you get it wrong in the future.
And if I thought my job was hurting my family, then the family would come first.''
How does he look at Britain? : ''Britain is a great, aspirational country, but we are also a good society, proud of helping others not as fortunate as ourselves.
This is the idea of Britain to which most people subscribe.''
That's very true, Sir!

I have the honour to convey to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his family, and the people of Britain, the best wishes of the World Students Society Computers-Internet-Wireless:
Looking forward to his family joining up on: !WOW!
