Students protest against poor quality of mid-day meal

Gorakhpur, India: Students of Primary School, Barauli village, under Chargawan block here protested against the poor quality of food on Saturday, district coordinator for mid-day meal Deepak Patel said.

Authorities reached the spot and found several irregularities in serving the mid-day meal, he said.

Potatoes and other ingredients had come from the house of gram pradhan (village head) and were of sub-standard quality, he said.

It was also found that the food being cooked was insufficient for the 158 students of the school, Patel said.

The food safety department has taken a sample of the served food and action would be taken against the guilty, said the district coordinator.
