Russian cosmonauts Fyodor Yurchikhin and Alexander Misurkin have set a record for the longest-ever spacewalk, lasting 7 hours and 29 minutes. During the spacewalk they installed fittings for a new Russian-built multipurpose laboratory module to be launched December 2013, along with an optical telescope. The spacewalk beat the previous record of 7 hours, 16 minutes set at the old Mir space station in 1990.
