Where is the world's coldest village?

Two Russian cities 1,000 kilometres apart are disputing the unofficial title of the coldest inhabited place on earth.

The lowest ever temperature in the town of Oymyakon was recorded at minus 67.7 degrees Celcius back in 1933. But people of Verkhoyansk claim that as far back as 1885 the temperature in their town fell to minus 67.8 Celsius.
