A driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving within 10 minutes of the start of a summer crackdown.
Sussex Police said the 25-year-old man was arrested after a car was stopped in St Leonards at 00:10 BST on Sunday and is one of seven people charged.
Its Operation Dragonfly campaign to tackle drink and drug-driving across the county lasts throughout June.
All the arrests came in the first two days of the campaign, with a further four people released on bail.
Supt Jane Derrick, the head of the force's roads policing unit, warned motorists to heed advice.
"If you are considering getting behind the wheel you are making a choice of whether or not to put your life and the lives of other people in danger.
"The answer is simple - drink or drive," she said
