''' UP WITH THE *GENIUS* DESIGN 

STUDENTS '''

A GENIUS, DESIGN STUDENT[S]   -job is to  challenge, provoke and immortalize the   ''Ecosystem of !WOW!''   and the age in which we all live.

A comprehensive beauty, of a super design attempt would radically discover and invent a new form of artistic approaches; and even those methodologies that push the boundaries of high art and give birth to a dramatic-

New form of creative expression, and one that changes the course of students and with it, the course of the world and humanity forever.

At !WOW! our honour and job would be, to celebrate these creative moments -rejoicing their genius; and also, not only sharing that creative process, but putting it to work in the best service of all   -and every student in world, and of course, humanity.   

IVE AND NEWSON had originally thought they would design several things from scratch for the auction. In the end, they had time for only two:

The desk, which was produced by Neal Feay Studio, calls to mind the latest model of the desktop iMac computer, its aesthetic of  super-thin edges scaled up to furniture size.

The top which is an edge, that seems to gently flow into nothingness, is supported on a pair equally thin aluminium slabs. The entire object seems almost ethereal, an assemblage of three metal planes.

The camera is based on the Leica Digital Rangefinder and was manufactured by the company as a custom item. the overall shape is similar to a conventional camera's, but the finished objects looks altogether different. It is made of brushed aluminium, and the controls are sleek and understated, as on Ive's products at Apple. 

It does everything a regular Leica does, with the same lenses and the same functions, but the controls no longer seem intrusive, like silver barnacles on black-metal beast. Instead,-

Every button and every lever is a tiny sensual moment, subsumed into the overall form of the camera. Never a thing of beauty, the Leica has become one by being boiled down to its essence.

''I found it very odd and unusual thing to put this amount of energy into one thing, where you are only going to make one,'' Ive said. ''But isn't it beautiful?''  

The camera's dollar was hard to estimate, since it was an art piece as much as a functioning object, but the value of the time Ive, Newson, and Lecia's own engineers put into it probably totalled well into six figures, and probably seven.

The process of designing and making the camera took more than nine months, and involved  947  different prototype pars and  561 different models before the design was completed. According to Apple:

55 engineers assisted at some part in the process, spending a collective total of 2,149 hours on the project. 

Final assembly of the camera took one engineer 50 hours, the equivalent of more than six workdays, all of which Ive's comment that he thought the Leica might bring $6 million seem not so far-fetched.

Minister of State for Education Engineer Balighur Rehman, who is otherwise a visionary and a hardworking man, has just only days ago, frankly admitted that the education system of the country has many, many shortcomings-

**Speaking at the launching ceremony of a report on education in Islamabad last Thursday, he described its findings as worrisome and but also considered a step in the right direction, apparently because you can cure the malaise if you come to the right diagnosis.**

Experts point out that our general education system is focused only on examinations rather than preparing students for the future  -to take up bigger responsibilities and catch up with the rest of the world.

Students are forced to take tests that show only their retention power and not their actual capacity of knowledge. 

*It is because of this that the engineers and technicians generally cannot undertake actual work in technology.*   

Barring a few institutions, majority of the universities do not encourage research and development, which is supposed to be their fundamental job and education has been confined to mere a commercial venture to mint money or seeking- 

Assistance from students to add to the lists of articles and publications of lecturers and professors, which is nothing but height of injustice not only to those students but also to the country as a whole.

In several universities we have necessary infrastructure and good faculty but students have no motivation to do research.

There is, therefore, need to build a good educational institutions, establish latest labs and provide necessary funding for research and development besides improvement in curriculum.
