"' PAKISTAN :
!SO MANY A SPLENDID STUDENTS! "'
IT CAN NEVER GO UNNOTICED -that two of the greatest ever, - students' accomplishments, of the past many, many decades, came from Pakistan:
A Noble Prize for Malala and the abstraction of !WOW! -the World Students Society and its master publication, Sam Daily Times [The Voice Of The Voiceless].
And to top it all, we do have a great deal of pioneering work taking place here-
Often taken on by young students, and who so very often find themselves working against all, all odds.
Pakistan also has an astonishing amount of talent, which simply seems to simply melt away -perhaps because it is not properly harnessed and utilized in any meaningful fashion.
This is something we need to consider so we can asses how we can bring efforts together and utilize all that for the country's future.
**The people of Pakistan's major failing is, -that they just too, too often, tend to undermine students/people who achieve, pull them down, in some kind of national trait involving jealousy, and a desire not to allow others to move forward.
THIS COULD VERY WELL BE their final undoing. We do not like to see success in other places**.
SPLENDID ACHIEVER : Student Mir Aizaz - "O" Levels, won second prize at the annual NASA design competition, competing against thousands of young people from all across the world.
The Pakistani U-19 English Language Debating Team reached the semi-finals at the World Schools Debating Championship in Singapore and was honoured as the best team competing from a country where English is a second language.
There are others. We hear of some; we never hear of the rest. There are probably dozens, perhaps hundreds of stories out their that do not get told. The Pakistani students need to look out for these stories and weave them together to build a new tapestry against which their life can continue.
In the province of Sindh, a handicapped 14-year old student, Ansso Kholi, from an underprivileged, low-cast Hindu family has recently been honoured by the Malala Fund-
And was invited to New York for the premiers on the life of Malala by the Malala Fund for her work in opening up schools in her village near UmerKot, one of the most deprived areas of Sindh.
Ansoo Kohli's efforts have mobilised the community in her area to promote education, especially for girls, and won support from the Sindh government.
There are other students as brave as her. Far away in Swat, Student Hadiqa Bashir, only 13 years old, has won the : " Muhammed Ali Humanitarian Award, given by the centre set up by ex-boxer Muhammed Ali and his wife Lonni-
For work in the area of Human Rights, for her activities to prevent child marriage and raise awareness against the practice.
In the Swat area, the marriage of very young girls is not uncommon and Student Hadiqa has been able to conduct a door-to-door campaign to speak against it while also bringing together girls and families to explain why it must be avoided.
It is very strange and painful that in some ways we first heard of her work at a wider level through the international media rather the Pakistani media.
Pakistan and Pakistanis are essentially a very caring, simple, and a loving nation {-with some exceptions, of course.}
The Pakistani students need to bring together this sense of humanity so that a difference is made, It has been too many years since the world saw it in action. What the nation needs to do is cross class barriers and find ways of inducting:
Those not educated in elite schools into the system. There is no reason at all to undermine their thinking power and the ability of these students.
Plenty of them such as Aansoo, Malala Mariam, Rabo, Dee, Malala, Hussain, Shazaib, Salar, Saima, Haider, Aqsa, Sarah, Paras, Sorat, Ehsen, Bilal, Zaeem, Hazeem, Mustafa, Eman, Ibrahim, Faizan, Reza, Ghazi, Haanyia, Meriam, Armeen, Danyial, Rahym, Hamza. Ali, Sannan, Asim-
Have demonstrated the extent of their ability to achieve. The nation needs to get past the barriers it has set up itself by putting language or family connections as a key priority when choosing people for leadership roles and instead set up their criteria.
We must draw in students/people from the mass bulk of society that lives almost unseen in this country. The darkness needs to be lifted and the amazing resilience and courage of ordinary students recognized.
This courage is the hallmark of the Pakistani people and the basis on which this nation is in so many ways built. It is the only reason that it has survived.
''Great Things must be attempted! Great Things must be done!''
With respectful dedication to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Mohammed Nawaz Sharif; to the memory of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and ever, Pakistan's Greatest son : O''Captain Imran Khan
And the most loving and respectful dedication to the Students of Pakistan. See You all on !WOW! -the World Students Society:
''' The Light '''
Good Night and God Bless
