US PATENT AWARDED

Pakistan/Lahore : Punjab University College of Information Technology [PUCIT] Assistant Professor Muhammad Kamran Malk-

Has been awarded the US patent titled : ''System and process for natural language processing and reporting.''

Malik said that organizations were in need for quick, usable intelligence in order to drive their business needs such as market research and customer perception.

Currently, a data analyst analyses data such as consumer reviews, product reviews and marketing data to generate reports manually, he added.

To automatically develop all reports that a data analyst usually generates manually, he said.

For his PhD research at PUCIT, Malik worked on the Urdu Named Entity task which was the key to developing a search engine for Urdu language.

Previously another PUCIT faculty Dr. Muhammed Shahid Fareed had been awarded a US and a European patent for his work in image processing.
