Women More Educated Than Their Husbands For The First Time In US History

US: A record number of men are marrying up educationally, while for the first time in history, more women than men are better educated than their spouse.

 According to research from Institute for Family Studies (IFS), 25.3 percent of husbands are now married to more educated wives and 24.5 percent of the wives are married to more educated husbands.

The phenomenon is more prevalent among newer generation. In 2015, 32% of newlywed women married a spouse with lower education than theirs. In contrast, 20% of newlywed men married a spouse with less education.

More women are perusing higher education as 56 percent of college students are now women.

Despite better education women are still earning less than their partners. In 2015, 73 percent married men had a higher income than their spouse.
