The Future of the Christmas Card :
There are fears that the good old traditional Christmas card could be on its out because so few young students/people send them.
But social media posts don't quiet capture the magic of a physical greeting card.
Tech company Choosey have tried to fuse tradition with technology by launching printed Christmas cards with personalised videos that require a phone or a tablet to use.
Videos are recorded either on the Choosy app or uploaded from a camera roll on a mobile device.
Senders can upload a different video to each card, making the experience truly special or, alternatively, send the same video to everyone.
When the card is received, it includes a printed code, which plays the video on the screen of the receiver's device when scanned with a smartphone or a tablet.
The card uses augmented reality technology enabling the sender to upload a video message which can be viewed via the recipient's smartphone or tablet.
IN THE UK this year, the British public are expected to spend over Pound 384 million on Christmas cards.
Choosey chief executive Ben Nolan said : ''Choosey has turned receiving a card from into an experience and taken sending greetings to the next level.
''Video conveys laughter, emotion and tells a story. The physical card is still prized over virtual e-cards, but brought bang up to date with the benefits of digital technology,'' he says.
''The industry has been slow to change since Victorian times, precisely because the draw of an actual card is too powerful to abandon. We have combined these two worlds,'' he adds.
