It was a momentous occasion for 688 graduates of Wawasan Open University {WOU} at the university's 8th convocation ceremony Penang.-
Especially for Harakiran Kaur Utar Singh, Yap Hui Zhi and Rakasvaran Kumaravelu.
The decision by Harkiran to pursue the Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration [CeMBA] programme stemmed from her inclination towards the business field and the motivation provided by the regional center consultant in Kuala Lumpur.
While working in the Malaysian Airlines as management trainee, she was trained in each area and assigned with the task of generating new ideas and fine-tuning old policies.
Harkiran credits the programme for allowing her to develop the aforementioned skills that benefited her greatly.
''As a working adult, I wanted to pursue a part-time programme that allowed me to balance work and study. WOU enabled me to do just that,'' says Yap, a graduate in Bachelor of Management {Hons} with Psychology.
She plans to apply the knowledge she had acquired from the programme in both her personal and professional life;
Rajasvaran, who graduated from the full-time Bachelor of Business[Hons] in Management [BBMG] programme, choose WOU upon recommendations from family and friends.
He recalled, '' It is an ideal university, as the programme enables students to acquire theoretical knowledge in business with best management practices.
WOU offers six-full time degree programmes in the field of Accounting, Management, Banking & Finance, Sales & Marketing, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and Computer Systems & Networks.
Newly registered undergraduate and postgraduate students for part-time study in the January 2018 intake will enjoy discounts of up to 40%, paying only RM 1,650 and RM 4,000 respectively for the first year of study at WOU.
Meanwhile the February 2018 intake students will be able to enjoy a tuition fee rebate of 25% for subsequent semesters.
