UNDERPRIVILEGED students/teens and those from homes can look forward to entering tertiary education thanks to the Didik-Kasih EduCare Programme, a study aid programme initiated by Great Vision Charity Association [GVCA].
This programme provides students/teens with a startup assistance of RM 1,500 to prepare them for college and a monthly study allowance of RM 250 for 12 months.
This programme also helps empower participants to give back to society and build their interpersonal skills by organizing a charity project.
Students Quek Pek Yin, 19, is a Didik Kasih EduCare Programme participant and is pursuing Diploma in Mass Communication. Coming from a low income family and a resident at Rumah Ozanam, a charity children/students home, Quek hopes to inspire other underprivileged children through an arts and crafts workshop she runs.
Fifteen children at Rumah Kanank-Kanak Impian participated in her workshop earlier this year.
''I felt satisfied and happy to be able to plan and conduct a charity event on my own,'' said Quek.
''Spending time at the charity home also made me feel and realise I need to appreciate the opportunities and the help I received in life.''
Another candidate of the study aid programme, Student Vinayagi Thanaraj, 22, received a study aid to pursue a Diploma in Psychology course this year.
''The Didik-Kasih EduCare Programme is now accepting new candidates for the 2018.''
''We wish to support and inspire more underprivileged students/teens with the study and help them learn by organizing charity activities that gives back to society.''
The World Students Society honors and will lend full support to this great endeavor.
