YESTERDAY, President Joko Widodo named Major General Djoko Setiadi, a former Chairman of the country's encryption agency, to lead the new body.
DJOKO'S tasks includes cracking down on TERRORIST NETWORKS that communicate online and combating online hate speech that has been blamed for driving Fundamentalism.
He said : ''We will control cyberspace. Our technology will not only be able to detect, but also penetrate [ terrorist ] networks. ''
Chief Security Minister Wiranto said : ''We need this body to help maintain security nationally, regionally and globally.'' AFP.
