*UN : 386,000 BABIES BORN NEW YEAR*

NEW YORK: THE UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN FUND [Unicef] estimated on Monday that 386,000 babies were born New Year's Day.

Xinua reported that more than half of the births took place in nine countries :

.- India          69,070.
.- China         44,760.
.- Nigeria       20,210.
.- Pakistan     14,910.
.- Indonesia   13,370
.-D R Congo    9,400
.- Ethiopia        9,020.
.- Bangladesh  8,370

But some babies will not survive.

UNICEF said in 2016, for about two million newborns, the first week of their lives was their last.
