TAXILA / PAKISTAN: Students who excelled in their Secondary School Certificate exams were given Laptops during an event held at the Post Graduate College
The Laptops were presented to 171 students by the Provincial Minister for Population Welfare.
The Minister congratulated the students and said the distribution of Laptops and other financial incentives is part of the education policy introduced by the Punjab chief minister for encouraging talented students.
The Minister added that the said Laptops would help students with their education and research.
He said Pakistani youth are very talented and should be provided opportunities to enhance their abilities and excel in their respective fields : ''Punjab Education Endowment Fund" has been established for the welfare of talented students who need financial support.
'So far, Rs 2 billion has been distributed among students under the program in the form of scholarships'.
In addition, 310,000 Laptops have been distributed so far in three phases and 115,000 are being distributed currently among students of Intermediate through to post graduate.
This is the fourth phase of the project and will cost Rs 7 billion.
