STARS -SUPERHEROES- SHINE : FOR INDIA


As India battles yet another wave after wave of the deadly contagion, celebrities world over are ensuring they play their part in preventing the coronavirus from spreading and saving those in peril.

Hollywood stars including Hugh Jackman, Nick Jonas, Robert Pattinson and Lilly Collins among others, have voiced their concern over the crisis situation in India. While many among them have donated Priyanka Chopra's initiative in collaboration with GiveIndia, others are urging their fans to donate.

Compiled from Hindustan Times, here is a list of all the Hollywood stars who turned into real-life superheroes for India, in its fight against the Covid-19.

Hugh Jackman

The actor shared a poster for Priyanka's fundraiser on his Instagram stories and wrote, ''Support India.''

Lilly Collins

Being an Ambassador of Go Campaign, Collins had urged everyone to support the cause. ''I have such beautiful memories of my time in India and the country will always hold such a special place in my heart.

Please join me and my friends at GO Campaign to bring immediate relief to families there today,'' a PTI report quoted her saying.

Robert Pattinson

The Batman actor has also partnered with Go campaign to raise funds for India, reported Variety.

‘’ Think of Go as a really meaningful investment fund - they take your dollars and invest them in children, in a diverse portfolio , for maximum results. And the common thread is those heroes, their proven track record, their commitment to serving children,” he said.

Ewan McGregor

He has also partnered with GO, which will provide PPE, emergency food, medicine, pulse oximeters, and resuscitators in India. McGregor has urged fans to support the cause, GO Campaign.

Nick Jonas

The popular singer has joined his wife, Chopra's ventures, to help raise $ 1 million for India's Covid-19 relief.

Shawn Mendes

He has donated $50,000 to author and podcaster Jay Shetty's fundraiser Healp India Breathe.

Camila Cabello

The Havana singer has also raised $6,000 for Shetty's Help India Breathe. 

Ellen Degeneres

The talk show host, on the other hand, has raised $59,000 for Shetty's relief fund.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

The Smiths donated $50,000 to Shetty's Help India Breathe Fund.

Katy Perry

The Roar singer shared details about the Covid-19 cases in India, and urged her fans to donate for oxygen supplies.

James McAvoy

The X-Men star, via a video on Instagram, urged his followers to donate to India. “India needs help. You can help. Donate what you can if you can,” he said earlier this week.

Richard Madden

The Game of Thrones actor asked fans to ‘help and support ‘ his Citadel co-star Chopra’s fundraiser.

Reese Witherspoon

The Big Little Lies star amplified Chopra’s call to raise funds for India even more.

Lilly Singh

While late-night talk show host, Singh also urged fans to donate. ( According to the union health ministry on Friday, India registered 414,188 new coronavirus infections in a day while 3,915 fatalities were reported in a span of 24 hours).
