'Spider-Man' sequel trailer leaks. And Sony is slapping users with copyright suits.
On Sunday, Sony had been on its toes in an attempt to take down what appeared to be a leaked trailer for its highly anticipated Spider-Man : No Way Home, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The upcoming superhero installment has been trending on Twitter since since some accounts shared what appeared to be the trailer while others spent time trolling Sony and warning the alleged leaker.
Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the aforementioned publication. Some tweets sharing the video of the alleged trailer were also taken down with users being subjected to a copyright statement.
''The media has been disabled in response to a report from the copyright owner,'' a message read. The outlet, upon viewing the alleged leak, has dubbed its content legitimate but refused to share specifics, keeping in line with the ethics of reporting.
The studio, however, has been in a whack-a-mole situation, according to news reports, since the blocking of one video from a Twitter handle would prompt the posting of it from another.
Spider-Man fans have been chomping at the first look of No Way Home since rumours swirled who will appear from the previous Spider-Man films. According to the BGR, however, the film will see a multiverse.
It alleges that Marvel is having a hard time trying to deny leaks, and even harder time trying to convince fans that it won't be a multiverse, since many have claimed they saw Loki in the unauthorized leak.
The outlet also promises that No Way Home will feature villains from all of Sony's old Spider-Man films, including DocOck [ Alfred Molina], who had confirmed that he will be reprising the role from the Sam Raimi films. He had also detailed how his character will return to life.
Many have also alleged that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will play their respective Spider-Man versions as well, since you can't bring back the villains from the other Spider-Man films without also restoring the heroes.
But there are no guarantees for either one of these spoilers. Spider-Man : No Way Home is currently slated to arrive in theaters December 17.
