Regardless of whether he is or is not a global cyberimperialist, Zuckerberg is an ace problem solver, and it's always instructive to to watch him at work.
Compare Facebook's approach to extending Internet connectivity with say, Google's. Although it is not part of Internet.org, Google too has expressed concern over this issue, and it's response is something called Project Loon:
A network of high-altitude helium balloons that will, some day, in theory, continuously circle the globe, beaming Wi-Fi down to remote areas.
It sounds loopy and romantic, but then again so did self-driving cars.
When last sighted, Project Loon was well into practical trials in a remote part of Brazil, working on adding LTE and on getting its balloons to stay up longer.
